"Terrible 14 hour wait"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

I was a victim of a hit and run last night and then 20 mins after this, hit off my bike again by another carping in the other direction in poynton. I waited 4 hours in a&ewith my dad, then told to go home at midnight as there was another 8 hours wait time. I think I have broken bones in my hand, lacerations to my mouth. Banged my head when i hit the windscreen and bonnet.Told to go home and come back another day. I have come back today with my dad and we have to start all over gain. Now told further 12 hours to wait!!! Very unhappy . How can this be actually possible? I don't feel well and will be here all day. Terrible hospital wait times

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are very sorry to hear of your recent poor experience and long wait to be seen. All patients are clinically assessed at triage and prioritised based on clinical need. Due to an increase in demand, there was unfortunately a long wait to be seen overnight on the night that you attended. Earlier this year, the department launched an initiative to offer planned appointments for patients to attend the following day if the patient meets the right criteria for the Urgent Treatment Centre (Minor injuries and Minor Illness). From the information we have, It is unclear if you were offered an appointment for the next day. If you would like to contact PALS on 0161 276 8686 quoting case number PO22/0038, your case can be reviewed in more detail and we would be happy to review your case and provide more specific feedback. In the meantime, we will ensure that your experience has been shared with the team and we wish you a full recovery following your incident.
