"Alarm fatigue - Patient & staff safety"

About: Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

I visited a family member in the hospital; The ward was incredibly noisy from unsilenced alarms ignored by the parade of staff. A distressed patient kept on screaming for someone to please answer the doorbell. In the four hours, I was on the ward, not a single member of staff attempted to reset the alarm parameters or think about the impact of the noise on patients and staff alike.

One wonders if the staff thinks about the impact of this cacophony... the impact on patients having to hear this constant assault of noise, or if the well-being of patients matters to them?
