I had a heart valve replacement in April 2022 at UHCW. I have worked in the NHS for 35 years, never at UHCW I may add.The journey that I had from seeing my cardiologist to ending up having heart surgery was fantastic.
Cardiothroacic surgery involves huge team including surgeons, doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants ,ultrasonographers and they were excellent throughout. From timely outpatient appointments and expert investigations to surgery, intensive care and ward based care I have never come across such a diligent ,dedicated, caring team. Special mentions go to my surgeon who reviewed me at least daily , the clinical nurse specialists who answered everything I threw at them and all the nurses -including the evening staff and their sense of humour.
Communication between different departments was seamless with consultants on first name terms.
I am now 3 months on from surgery and doing well with no complications and would thoroughly recommend UHCW for heart surgery .
Thankyou Cardiothoracic team UHCW for saving my life and doing it with care and professionalism
"Magnificent."
