Having ripped something in my abdomen the following day I felt a lump, so rather than a strain or tear I concluded a probable hernia. A&E first thing in the morning, 0830hrs. The dragon in triage looked at me as if I were dirt - after all I wasn’t a ‘medical professional’ so what would I know about anything…..
Then I spoke to someone sensible and everything changed. The doctor I saw checked me over and straight away I was moved to urgent care. Within a half hour I was seen by another doctor and referred to surgical assessment, with the hernia confirmed.
Moved to Cherry Tree Surgical assessment ward, where everyone was both super friendly and super professional. CT scan,
chats with doctors surgeon and anaesthetist, and later the same day I was having everything put back where it belonged and closed up. Released back into the wilds of Shoeburyness the following day….
I cannot say enough thanks to everyone for their haste, professionalism, wonderful attitude - from the surgical teams, doctors, staff nurses, nurses, HCA was especially lovely and caring, porters, caterers, and cleaners. The whole team worked. Thank you! Please pass along my thanks to everyone in the chain!
