I visited my elderly neighbour at the back of 11am yesterday, I noted her eye was swollen, I telephoned her GP practice and a very helpful receptionist made us an appointment for 16.10!
She was the seen by 2 caring GP’s , a diagnosis was made& a prescription written, careful advise on fluid intake& eye care was given, we were also advised they would call Opthalmology , I received a phone call half an hour later, advising us to attend Falkirk Eye Clinic at 14.50 today.
Although the parking was challenging & I had to walk my neighbour and her 93 year old sister ( they don’t like to be apart) quite a distance, we were met on the ramp by Dr Livingstone (Consultant) leaving work, who returned and got 2 wheel chairs & got us help from a HCSW( sadly I’ve forgotten her name) we were in safe hands then.
Everyone was excellent, updating us, assisting me& staying with her sister while we were in for a thorough consultation with Dr Chadwick.
A reassuring treatment plan was given to my neighbour and follow up planned.
I wish to thank the staff at Orchard House GP practice and Falkirk Community Hospital Eye Clinic for the wonderful care given to my neighbour, it was quite exceptional and heart warming to witness.
