For approximately 2 weeks I could feel what I thought was an infected spot in the centre of my back. It then became itchy and started spotting blood. My GP assessed it and after his prescribed treatment decided to refer me to Treliske Dermatology for further assessment. I was quickly given an appointment 8 working days after being referred.
I arrived at the appointment 10 minutes before my allotted time and within 2 minutes taken to the consultation room. I was examined by Jane and Sarah who diagnosed the infected lesion had cleared with only light scarring remaining. I was assured is was nothing to be concerned about and given an open appointment for 6months in the event of it flaring up again.
Whilst there I was asked if there were anything else I was concerned about and I mentioned I had scaly irregular patches on the edge of my ears which regular moisturising did not resolve. I was informed they were “ actinic keratosis” and Jane treated me there and then using cryotherapy.
I have nothing but praise for the professional, compassionate, reassuring and prompt treatment by Jane, Sarah and the attendant nurse.
Thank you
