"Post-op complications"

About: Victoria Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had a new hip fitted by a surgeon who did a great job. Unfortunately, because I'm on chemotherapy for Myeloma, the loss of blood led to a serious imbalance in my blood. Worst of all was my haemoglobin level which started to plummet dangerously. Great work by all on ward 10 at Victoria Hospital and I was on the receiving end of a transfusion which has started me back on the way to recovery. Can't thank them enough! Wonderful selfless people.

For five days they fought to get blood out of me despite veins that kept hiding, and did it with perseverance and warmth. What really helped was that they kept me fully informed every step of the way.

I'm home now and can start to recover, thanks to our wonderful NHS.

Good afternoon Alpaca lover,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your feedback in Care Opinion.

This has obviously been a very stressful time for you, however I am pleased to hear that your experience with us in Ward 10 was very positive. As the Senior Charge Nurse, it is reassuring that the information relayed to you throughout your stay was helpful and that the staff were "wonderful".

I will ensure that your comments are passed on to the team. wishing you well in your continued recovery.

Best Wishes

Lorna and the Ward 10 team
