My son was admitted to ward 56 stroke rehab two months ago. At that time he was facing a very bleak and uncertain future. Since then the care he has received from the team has been exemplary. The entire nursing team have been amazing. From day one to his discharge they have provided truly person centred care; recognising and responding to his changing needs with sensitivity, patience and humour. All staff made me feel welcome on the ward and ensured I was supported and kept informed to enable me to be involved in his rehabilitation.
The kindness and caring shown to both my son and myself meant so much; finding time to listen to our concerns and respond to our worries in a supportive, encouraging and positive way, despite the pressures you were under. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
I must also mention the therapy teams. The expertise, support, practical advice and encouragement of the physios, speech and language and occupational therapists has enabled my son to make real and meaningful progress towards his recovery. As a result of the work of the whole team my son is walking out of the hospital looking forward with positivity to his future. That is priceless.
