"A great experience from start to finish"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Surgery (wards 64, 65, 66,& 67) Lorn & Islands Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I managed to amputate my thumb on Tuesday afternoon with a rather dull 1500rpm blade on my bench saw,,,,,ooooh!

I arrived at GRI from Easdale Island on Wednesday the next day at 11:45.  By 12:15 I was seen by a consultant by 13:30 I was in surgery with the "A team"  They removed the bits that were totally gone, I was stitched up, and by 15:15 it was all over.  Then the theatre nurse organised lunch - never heard of the like.  A great experience from start to finish.

Dear Trapper

Thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback in regards to your experience of using the General Surgery Department of the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

I was sorry to hear about your accident with the bench saw that sounds extremely painful to say the least. You must have been worried sick.

Luckily I was glad to hear the 'A Team' were at hand to help with your injury to your thumb and get you all stitched up in good and proper time.

I will make sure the team are made aware of your comments and I'm sure they will be pleased to hear you appreciated their efforts.

I hope your recovering well and taking it easy on that thumb.

Kind regards

Kevin
