"The staff have been more than helpful"

About: Nightingale Wards / Nightingale 1

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I’ve been on Ward 1 at Whiteabbey since last Wednesday. I was in Antrim Area previously for surgery and came here for rehab. I can’t fault Whiteabbey Hospital at all. The staff have been more than helpful. Bob who works at night time is comical and good at what he does. All the staff are great but Bob sticks out.

The food is good but sometimes I feel like it’s coming very often. I would like the opportunity to get my hair washed as I’ve been in hospital for a while now without having that done. I feel like I will go home with a very good feeling about Whiteabbey!

Hello, my name is Lauren Henry, I am assistant clinical service manager in Whiteabbey. Huge thank you for telling us your story.

I am delighted to hear of your positive experience in Whiteabbey and the team is very grateful for the feedback. As a new service, we are keen to learn and improve your care and experience. I am sure we can arrange for you to have your hair washed, this is an important part of your recovery. As a team, we can review to make sure all patients get offered a shower.

I have passed your feedback to Bob, I am sure he will be delighted. I wish you well in the coming days and weeks ahead.

Warmest wishes,

Lauren Henry

Would like to follow up from this response, a change has now been made. We have put a process in place to enable patient choice around showering, as part of their rehabilitation.

Many thanks,

Lauren Henry
