This hospital has been rated inadequate in regards to care, and that is an understatement!
I took my daughter to A&E for suspected appendicitis. The waiting room was extremely busy and I waited for over 6.5 hours for my daughter to see a doctor, before asking a nurse how much longer we needed to wait. I was told that they couldn’t give us a time, and they didn’t have a doctor available. At this point I had to walk out and take my daughter to Exeter. To have your daughter sat in a waiting room, in extreme pain and in tears, without seeing a single doctor, isn’t good enough. The NHS is fundamentally failing, if this hospital is anything to go by.
At The Royal Devon and Exeter, she was seen pretty much straight away and it transpired that not only did she have appendicitis, but it had perforated and she had peritonitis. She was dangerously ill and had what consultants described as the worst appendicitis they had seen in a very long time.
So to summarise, I would not recommend Torbay Hospital.
"A traumatic experience…"
