My son had presented with a sore tailbone. He is fully dependent on his wheelchair and waited more than four hours to be seen about the very thing he was quite literally sitting on. There was no place to change him, no quiet space to feed him or give medicines.
I asked for a cubicle and was told they were doing their best. My reply was well everyone else can go to the bathroom so why can't he? The sister came and I felt was quite sharp in regards as to why we couldn't have a space. Less than 15 mins later we were allocated a cubicle.
In this day and age there are many many complex children who require a proper changing places and need a bathroom with a bench and hoist. I cannot understand why the regional children's hospital doesn't. So much money seems to be wasted over and over again and yet basic needs for disabled people are ignored.
