"Day case care"

About: Nuffield Health, Taunton Hospital

2nd cataract surgery carried out very efficiently by surgeon and theatre team,however the nursing staff and general facility was far below the standard I have experienced on previous occasions at this hospital.The room was dark and the TV didn’t work.The nurse didn’t introduce herself,talked about herself,dropped the pupil-dilating med.which delayed the theatre.Then took nearly two hours to locate follow up eye drops and provide discharge letter.When asked if they were short staffed I was told no they were just busy and it was Friday afternoon!

The staff were unprofessional referring in the corridor for all to hear about”the old guy who had a general in room…”

Because my previous visit for my first cataract had been a very positive experience I was quite happy to leave without proper discharge procedure but anyone going through this for the first time or with any anxiety issues would have found this experience quite traumatic.
