Unfortunately, I’ve been very distressed by trying to obtain results from my recent colposcopy (at the designated time instructed by the clinic if I had not received them - which I had not). Whilst I have been told over the phone my results are in by admin, and they are being reviewed by the MDT for potential treatment, I have not been told my actual results, despite repeated assurances a nurse would ring me over the last three days. This has left me incredibly stressed with just enough information to be concerned but not enough for an actual diagnosis. Actually getting in touch with the department has also been a nightmare with wrong numbers given to me (including to dermatology?!) and me left today, on the third day of waiting, with no ability to contact the department. Whilst I appreciate (and hope!) my results don’t present anything urgent, I feel the dissemination of information has been extremely poor, particularly considering the extensive family history of cancer within my extended and immediate family. I have no complaint about the procedure I undertook, and I appreciate the NHS is massively stretched, but I feel communication must be improved to ease the distress of patients awaiting potentially serious results.
