"Care after Heart Attack at Darent Valley Hospital"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

I arrived at A&E recently after experiencing chest pain, and after an initial ECG was sent to Ambulatory Emergency Care for further checks where a Heart Attack was diagnosed. I was admitted to the Acute Medical Unit ward later that afternoon and transferred to Chestnut Ward two days later. I subsequently had an Angiogram and was discharged after a total of 6 nights. During that time the standard of care was exceptional from all departments and wards. The staff work extremely hard, doing 12 hour shifts on the wards and dealing with the patient's every need. They were always cheerful, approachable and very professional. As I was on a cardiology ward some of the patients are extremely ill and require absolutely everything to be done for them, which the staff do happily and without question. The supporting team who provide food and cleaning are also doing a great job. Toilets and bathrooms were very clean, and the standard of food quality and choice available could not be faulted. The consultant and team in the Cardiology theatre who performed the angiogram did a great job and explained exactly what was happening as they worked. I cannot thank absolutely all the staff I encountered enough for their dedication, hard work and marvellous attitude. Thank God for the NHS, and thank you to everyone at Darent Valley A&E, Ambulatory Emergency, the AMU and Chestnut Wards, and the Cardiology Theatre.
