"A journey of self discovery"

About: Neurological Rehabilitation Centre / Inpatient Unit

(as the patient),

Everything here has been great so far, in general I have not had a bad experience with any of the staff here - I have learnt things about myself that I never would have thought. The physiotherapy gym sessions are brilliant. I associated the gym with just working on exercises like squats and weights but the therapy staff have helped me to expand my knowledge and explore new exercises like cardio training and specific exercises to strengthen my weaker leg and I now realise that balance is very important which I never even thought of before. The therapy sessions have been varied from psychology to physiotherapy to occupational therapy and I have enjoyed all of them as they are really helping me to learn about myself and regain my independence. I have had an opportunity to go on a walk to the shops with therapists which has given me an experience of what being at home and going out will be like.

Sometimes I can get a bit angry but the nursing staff have always dealt with these situations really well and calmed me down.

This whole experience has been invaluable to me and really made me realise how precious life is, feeling pleasantly emotional.
