"Taking time to listen, get the correct details of a query and take action"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 26, 27, 61 & 62 )

(as the patient),

As an inpatient, following orthopaedic surgeries on my foot, I was struggling to work out changes to my drug regime which had been made (I’d no ideas why) and get together an understanding about a plan for my care towards discharge. A member of staff said they'd find out as much as they could about why my drug regime was / had been changed without my knowledge, and that some of the details recorded about my post op progress, I struggled to recognise. They were as thorough as they could be. Throughout, they were very honest about stuff they couldn’t answer straight away and came across as a very thorough, committed, compassionate and caring individual. They were honest with their patients, even if they couldn’t provide answers to every query. Personally I think that is to be commended. Please also pass on my thanks to them, and not forgetting the other individuals within the team who are providing me with great care.

Dear ADEMed, thank you for getting in touch about the care you received during your treatment in our orthopaedic areas. I am pleased you felt supported by our staff trying to explain some of the changes made to your drug regime and glad you found their approach honest and supportive.

best wishes in your recovery

John Carson
