"Poor Patient Management of Geriatric Patient"

About: King's Mill Hospital

My father who is 87 has recieved very poor patient management in that he has been delayed for 24 hours plus on discharge waiting for his medication to be sent to the ward where he was convalescing after surgery. There was litte or no support for him when he was confused as to what was happening and no real patient support for an elderly man who was frustrated at not going home when he was told he could do so. Only when I as his son intervened and asked for action to be be positively taken was something done.

This was partly due to the ward staff not taking control , but was really due to poor mnaagement at higher levels that no was able to say where the problem lay and look to resolve it. Instead it was increasingly apathetic 'buck passing'.

After my father's experience, i would not want to stay at Kings Mill Hospital and I would look to ask for another NHS venue.
