On 25th April I was given the first of my 3-monthly checks after bladder cancer and be given a 'thumbs-up' from the doctor. I was so pleased and when I got home I realised that I had probably not expressed my gratitude properly.
I am very grateful for all the treatment I received both at MMH and Maidstone Oncology unit where I had Radio-therapy treatment. Initially, I was suffering with a group 3 Tumour in my bladder which was treated which was taking up about 65% of available space. This was treated and approximately 95% was removed followed by a short stay in Sunderland Ward. Then I opted for Radio treatment to get rid of the final 'bits' at Maidstone and was amazed at the lengths they went to with transport to and from Gillingham.
All in all I am glad the NHS facilities and considerate staff was on hand along with support from Macmillan staff to see me safely through what was/is a very traumatic time. I am pleased to say that I am feeling very well (for someone of 85 years old) and am slowly getting back into my garden which gives me great pleasure.
I am taking my time and stop when I feel I have done enough, knowing that there is always tomorrow.
Thank you for all your kindness and patience and I hope all staff can get through these dreadful times safely. Here is one very grateful patient who REALLY appreciates you being there when I needed you!
