"The care was phenomenal"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Trauma & Orthopaedics Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as the patient),

In 2019, sadly I broke my leg on the stairs at home. I was transferred to Londonderry by ambulance from Enniskillen. The paramedics were fabulous. I was in Altnagelvin for a week on Ward 5 - Orthopaedic- for surgery and physio.

The nurses were fabulous - the care was phenomenal. They explained everything thoroughly at all times. They couldn't do enough for me.

The pain was horrendous but I was made comfortable with all sorts of different things- pillows, ice, painkillers etc.

My anxiety went through the roof but my personal case nurse supported me through the week.

Update posted by severitytf55 (the patient)

Thankfully I have fully recovered. I had to go private for after hospital physio- my consultant put urgent on my physio referral but it was 8 weeks before I was called - the trust physio department failed me and let me down.

Private was way more beneficial.
