I would like to thank the staff of Devonshire Ward for the wonderful care they gave to my Dad. The staff were kind, supportive and professional in dealing with the balance of deciding between continued treatment and palliative care. They listened to Dad's wishes and kept me informed throughout. They were quick in trying to establish palliative care when that was agreed to be the best approach. Sadly Dad died in hospital not living long enough to benefit from that care. I was quickly informed of the deteriorating situation. Staff moved Dad to a side room and allowed us to stay with him. They were caring and managed his pain at all times. It made such a difference to us as a family to be able to say our goodbyes and see Dad comfortable. I am so grateful.
