"Disappointing and worrying "

About: New Birmingham Dental Hospital

My son been referred by dentist in July 2021, we have been waiting till February 2022 to have just consulting appointment on which we have been said 2 of his teeth need to be removed (they been causing pain on and off, in meantime we have visited dentist number of times because of that). In April the pain started to be so severe that painkillers doesn't work, he been on antibiotics, dentist even attempted to remove it without any success as the anesthesia seem to not work leaving my son in even more pain. My son wasnt on priority list until dentist contacted hospital that he need to be seen asap then we got appointment for extraction for July, JULY... child with constant pain, waking up at night staying awake because of pain till morning, having trouble eating, should attempted school and wait from February till July for tooth extraction...

Dear Parent

I am sorry to hear of the waiting time for your son’s treatment at Birmingham Dental Hospital.

Please do contact our Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 917 2855 and they can liaise with Louise Parton, Patient Experience Lead and the hospital team to ensure that they are aware of your concerns so that they can advise on any additional support they can offer.

Kind regards

Lynne Birchall Associate Director of Patient Experience Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
