"Amazing standards in the face of demanding work"

About: Derriford Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I attended Derriford ED today with a broken wrist and was looked after by a specialist nurse Charlie in the plaster room.

Charlie was efficient and knowledgeable. She ensured that I had good pain relief and explained everything from start to finish about my care. I was incredibly grateful for her professional and kind approach. At the same time, Charlie was explaining my procedure to a nice trainee physician’s assistant called Hannah and I thought she balanced very well the need to meet her learning needs whilst prioritising my need for reassurance.

The radiography staff and the porter who helped me go from A to B were also great. I am a nurse and really admire those who maintain such amazing standards in the face of such demanding work.
