"Bad leg scratch"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Passed engineers tool box and badly scratched outer lower leg on fastener.  I felt a sharp pain but did not realise the severity of the tear which bled heavily. Bandaged the wound and it stopped bleeding for the moment. Discussed with surgery who referred me to the wounds clinic and made an appointment.

I attended and had the wound cleaned and treated and raised problem with swollen leg. I was given compression socks and referred for blood flow analysis. Returned and had equipment analysis which has resulted in being prescribed special compression socks to alleviate the swollen condition and encourage blood circulation. Very professional approach delivered in a user friendly manner. Very glad for the referral.
