"Disgraceful "

About: Southend Hospital

My 80 yr old mother was taken to hospital via ambulance with a serious UTI. Was kept waiting in the back of the ambulance in the hospital car park for 12 hours. Fortunately the paramedics were great to her even staying on after their shift had finished so they could wait with her. All said they were leaving the job because of the lack of care shown to patients at the hospital. After 12hrs was taken into A&E only to be put on a bed in a corridor for another 4 hours while waiting to be admitted to ward. Once in the ward the patient in the bed next to my mother said that her bed and one other in the room had been free for 24hrs. Who is coordinating care here?! This is completely unacceptable. The hospital isn’t fit for purpose.
