My experience of my care with the Rheumatology Dept has been overall excellent. Except for yesterday. Was scheduled for a telephone consultation for which I rearranged my work hours which also meant a colleague swapping her own shift to accommodate my ‘appointment’. I needn’t have bothered. The call lasted literally 2 minutes in which the ‘consultant’ asked me to confirm each of my medication and then went on to confirm results of a Dexa scan I recently had - these results I already knew. And that was it. No questions about if I had had any flares recently, how they’ve affected me etc. Nothing. I really wanted to ask his advice about recent falls I had had which seem to be increasing. I wanted to ask him about the pain in my knees and their constant locking - again increasing in occurrence. I did mention it in one sentence but wasn’t given the opportunity to explain further as he had interrupted me and said he would ‘look into offering me physio’ and then rang off. Very, very disappointing. I’m even considering not accepting any more ‘appointments’. What’s the point when you aren’t given the chance to discuss any issues you are having?
