"Thoughtfulness, kindness and respect"

About: Royal United Hospital

My father came to the SAU ward for a simple procedure that turned into the end of his life. Whilst the staff never 'met' him fully conscious, they looked after him with respect and care as he died, continuing to moisturise his skin, cleaning his mouth, changing his gown etc with empathy. They looked after us too over the days and night we stayed with him giving us pillows, blankets and tea. Plus a really kind handwriten card when we all left! So very appreciated, thankyou you lovely people for making that hard time better.

Dear Roger’s family,

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback about your father’s recent care and your experience at the RUH, please accept our sincere condolences.

We are pleased that the care provided was thoughtful, kind and respectful and of course, will forward your comments to the Teams that cared for Roger.

We appreciate that this is a difficult time, if you or your family would like any further support please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01225 825656 or via email at ruh-tr.PALS@nhs.net and they will connect you with the RUH Bereavement Butterfly Service which is supported by the Chaplaincy Team.
