I visited the A & E due to my serious eye condition. My optometrist diagnosed macular degenerataion of my left eye and suggested my GP practice for urgent attention. The said practice did not quite appreciate the urgency and the Moorfields Hospital, to which it sent its referral, failed to act urgently. Even their A & E refused to attend to my needs with the excuse that I had been in their urgent waiting list. In desperation, I went to the Western Eye hospital in Marylebone. The nurse there understood the urgency and put me in touch with a doctor for the problem. Several tests were performed in the clinic there and the doctor diagnosed the problem as age-related macular degeneration. which is a serious illness. He verbally advised me on the treatment to be followed and sent a carefully worded note to my GP practice. In fact, he was amazed and angry that I had not received the due urgent attention that my illness deserved within the government guideline of two weeks. My sincere gratitude to the doctor, the nurse, the laboratory assistants and all the members of the staff there. Thank you very very much!
