"Mum waiting for scan"

About: Tameside General Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as a relative),

My elderly mum had recently been admitted to Tameside. She was told that she needed a scan. After 12 days, it still had not been done ( I understand that urgent cases come first, of course).

Feeling frustrated, I called the Radiology department and spoke to a someone  who, at that point could not give a date for the scan.

I rang a few days later and spoke to another person they listened to me and sympathised with me. Mums scan was booked for the following day . I want to say that a member of staff taking the time to listen is so important. they were brilliant. Thankyou.

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your mother’s experience at Tameside Hospital. I was sorry to read that when you mum was admitted to Hospital you were frustrated with the time it took for your mum to receive a scan, and that when you initially contacted the Hospital regarding this, a date for the scan could not be confirmed.

However, it is very pleasing to read that when you telephoned again to query this, the staff member you spoke to was able to assist you and that you felt you were listened to and given the time to discuss your concerns.

As part of our approach to continuous learning your comments have been shared with the Radiology booking team and if you would like to share any further feedback please contact either palsandcomplaints@tgh.nhs.uk who can support you with any concerns or patient.experience@tgh.nhs.uk and the team will be happy to share any specific compliments further.

Thankyou.

I will contact patient.experience at Tameside hospital.

I appreciate your response.... It is so good when a member of staff really listens and sympathised with you.

The person that I spoke to really helped to take some of the stress off us as a family, simply by booking my mums scan. Simple but very effective.
