I’ve been a member of the Moor Grange Surgery for a number of years and in the past I always found it difficult to get an appointment at a convenient time. The challenge of phoning when the surgery opened only to be told when you get through that you need to try again the next day was frustrating but highlighted the pressure on the service. 

The introduction of the econsultation service is just fabulous! I have already used it a number of times to send pictures of children’s rashes, spots and general concerns. We have been able to receive a diagnosis from sending detailed information along with good quality pictures and have on two occasions had prescriptions sent directly to the pharmacy as a result. It is so convenient and I have always received a text or phone call within 24 hours except on one occasion. The last phone call took less than 2 minutes, I can only imagine how much pressure that is lifting off the service.

I have always found all the staff incredibly helpful, barring one senior GP who continues to be perceived by me as rude and abrupt. 

One of the receptionists recently was incredibly helpful when we had a poor experience with the NHS 111 service who had redirected us back to the GP with concerns about our child’s breathing. It was late in the day but the receptionist got a lovely doctor to phone within 5 minutes who advised going straight to hospital, ignoring the NHS 111 advice. Our child was admitted into hospital that evening for a necessary overnight stay so a huge thanks to the receptionist for acting so quickly and for the lovely male GP for offering advice and guidance.

I’ve been so impressed with all the recent medical support I felt it was important I shared for others to see.
