"100/100 for her care"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Direct Assessment Unit Daisy Hill Hospital / Elective Overnight Stay Centre/Gynaecology Ward

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came in through DAU it was good, excellent to be truthful.

They had excellent excellent staff. The staff tried to make you as comfortable as possible.

Female surgical is very good, excellent. It is very clean and tidy.

The staff are good but some can be quite sharp to you.

The nurses were great but if I had to score the nurse Lisa she would get 100/100 for her care. She saw that I was not myself and down in the dumps, she made time for me and just sat and talked to me which lifted my spirits and allowed me to talk about things which have affected me for 5 years.

The only thing I do not like is the shower and toilet situation, I would prefer if female and males are two separate shower and bathrooms.

Dear Shagq75,

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on Care Opinion. I am so glad you received care that was compassionate and kind. I will make sure that the nursing staff of Female Surgical are made aware of your kind comments especially Lisa. Feedback like this is greatly valued by staff as they can read how important showing kindness and compassion to patients impacts on their experience in such a positive way. The ward is a mixed sex ward and has been incredible busy recently with emergencies admissions and adhering to COVID-19 risk management controls; designated toilets /showers to separate bays we will revisit designation to separate sex wards as COVID-19 transmission risk reduce.

Regards

Josie
