My partner was admitted to a and e- after initially being seen within 30mins and taken in to an area where no family can access, they then waited 8 hours to be seen by a Dr. I had to ask repeatedly what was going on before being told to go home and I would be called with an update- no call came. I appreciate how busy things are and Covid precautions but acknowledging that families are concerned for their loved ones is basic care- I saw one distressed daughter being told her father had no idea she was even there and hadn’t asked for her so she should just leave- he had suffered a stroke so understandably she was reluctant to leave with no updates.

Pharmacy services took over an hour after eventual discharge.

Overall obviously a workforce under a lot of pressure, but some compassion can go a long way to make the situation easier for families.

We're very sorry that you were unable to get an update on your partner and after being told to go home, did not receive the phone call with an update that you were told you'd receive.
