"Made me feel very reassured"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Neurosurgery

(as the patient),

I had an outpatient appointment in Ward 23a in Ninewells hospital yesterday to have a lumbar puncture procedure.  I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks which made going into hospital very difficult for me.   The consultant who did the procedure was brilliant, as was the doctor who assisted him.  He explained everything to me and made me feel very reassured under his care, making the experience far less difficult for me.

The student nurse who helped him was amazing too and made the whole thing much easier with her kindness and understanding.  Unfortunately I didn't remember names.  In addition, the healthcare assistant who popped in a few times to check I was ok and showed me the buzzer system made me feel at ease and was very kind, as was the student doctor.

Dear Nic123,

Thank you so much for your excellent feedback. We appreciate how daunting it is for people coming into hospital for invasive procedures, so it is wonderful to hear that your experience was so positive and that the staff were able to alleviate your anxieties around your investigation and support you through. We really appreciate you taking the time to share this.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the whole team and in particular the Staff members you have mentioned in your feedback.

Karen Kose SCN
