I had an outpatient appointment in Ward 23a in Ninewells hospital yesterday to have a lumbar puncture procedure. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks which made going into hospital very difficult for me. The consultant who did the procedure was brilliant, as was the doctor who assisted him. He explained everything to me and made me feel very reassured under his care, making the experience far less difficult for me.
The student nurse who helped him was amazing too and made the whole thing much easier with her kindness and understanding. Unfortunately I didn't remember names. In addition, the healthcare assistant who popped in a few times to check I was ok and showed me the buzzer system made me feel at ease and was very kind, as was the student doctor.
