About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Stroke care (Wards 56 and 68)

(as a service user),

My brother was admitted to Ward 57 in October 2021 after suffering a stroke.  The senior nurse in charge Flora has a wonderful team of nurses and auxiliary staff.  My brother had serious health issues for the past four years including lung and throat cancer. Even knowing there was no getting better for him, he was given the best possible care and attention.  When the ward was closed for a few weeks due to Covid, regular phone calls were made to keep the family updated.  Flora was instrumental in ensuring that my brother’s last days were as comfortable as possible. Flora spent some of her personal time at his bedside and went above and beyond the call of duty.  My husband and I will be eternally grateful to Flora.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback in regards to your experience of visiting your brother in the Stroke ward of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news of the passing of your brother. I would like to offer my condolences to you and your family in this difficult time. I know it must have taken a lot to leave this feedback so thank you it means a lot.

It was great to hear how the communication between you and the staff during your brothers final days were of a high standard and he was made to feel as comfortable as possible.

I will be sure to pass on your thanks to Flora and the team who I'm sure will be as touched as I was to read your comments.
