Re: Mrs Beryl Ann [my wife] My wife was admitted via paramedics at 22.00 on Friday night and until 04:00 she received amazing treatment receiving four scans and x-rays as well as an ECG and several blood tests. Two doctors were in attendance and her treatment was second to none. From 04:00 on Saturday until midnight she was in EAU4 and once more had constant attention and great care. Her views as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses were respected and the recommendations of the Hospital Liaison Committee were taken on board and applied. Since midnight on Sunday she has been in Forest Ward where she has once again been constantly monitored and treated with extraordinary kindness along with dignity and respect. Our daughter, Mandy, and I have made many telephone calls and constantly asked questions all of which have all been satisfactorily answered. Whilst visiting EAU4 and Forest I was able to observe three other very difficult patients owing to their suffering from Alzheimer’s disease but they were all treated very tenderly with kindness, dignity and great patience. In view of all the negative media reports about the NHS, which sadly reflects on all of you, I feel that you deserve a better press and my wife could not have received better treatment anywhere in the world than she has at Torbay Hospital. Please convey my sincere appreciation to EAU3, EAU4 & Forest wards. From a very appreciative husband, Thank you again, Ronald F

Dear Mr F

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this feedback. We are delighted to hear about you and your wife's positive experience during her treatment at our Hospital. It is particularly heartening to hear about the personalised care your wife received with regard to her religious views. Treating patients with dignity and respect is high on our priorities and we are therefore very pleased to read your comments regarding this in respect of both your wife and the observations of other patients' treatment. Thank you again for sharing your comments with us - they will of course be shared with the staff concerned.

We wish your wife a speedy recovery.
