"Told that I should seek a private diagnosis"

About: General practices in Tayside

(as the patient),

I had an appointment with my GP today, and I wanted to discuss my mental health and the diagnosis of potential ADHD and anxiety issues. I have been facing these issues for quite some time. My university Disabilities Adviser and Postgraduate Wellbeing Adviser suggested that I have symptoms of ADHD and anxiety. I am worried about this, and this is really affecting my studies, daily activities, and mental health. I asked my GP to refer me for my mental health diagnosis, and he responded that I should go for a private diagnosis. Being an international student, I can't afford a private diagnosis.
