"Terrible communication"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Surgical Assessment Unit

(as a relative),

My mum got admitted to surgical assessment unit because she was in agony with abdominal pain. She was in for 3 days and got scans and needed morphine. Then she just suddenly gets told she can go home and she can just take painkillers there, except nobody can tell her what was actually wrong or how long she is supposed to take painkillers for or if it will get better by itself.

Anyway she says she will go home and they told her they would phone her a taxi. And she says well I don't have any money and I'm just in my nightie I came here by ambulance! They said well we don't pay for taxis and we need the bed, like she was trying to get something for nothing and made her feel bad. So she phoned and we managed to get somebody to collect her but still doesn't know what's wrong or if it will get better.

My sister phoned the ward but the ward sister said she didn't know what was wrong and the GP would get a letter in a month or so!

I know everyone is busy but that's not good enough. They could have told us she was getting home and we would have brought clothes and got a lift organised, and could have helped my mum understand what was wrong in the first place. Just some good manners and communication please.
