"Amazing paramedic care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Trauma and orthopaedics South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a service user),

I recently dislocated and fractured my ankle.  I really had to feedback about the care of the paramedics who came to my assistance.  They were amazing in every sense.  Not only did they assess and quickly take action to treat me in a professional and friendly manner.  It was the way they interacted with me that made all the difference.

At every stage they informed me what they were doing, what was happening and when giving me pain killers to try to relocate my ankle, explained everything I may feel.   Although in pain it helped keep me calm and totally believe that I was in such safe hands.  Which I was.  I think great care goes beyond just treating the problem but treating the person.

Thank you to Martin and Paul for your marvellous care.

Equally the staff at Treliske were great.  The Orthopaedic surgeon again explained and showed me my injuries, and informed me of what was going to happen.  I am happy to provide a much more in depth story if any department would like.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with such lovely feedback. Firstly, please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you on here.

It must have been so painful having dislocated and fractured your ankle so I am pleased to see that the paramedics made a difference by being professional, friendly and communicating with you at every stage.

I am also pleased to see that the staff at Treliske, in particular the Orthopaedic surgeon, were just as great with communicating with you.

I am writing to you as a member of the Patient Experience team, but I will ensure your feedback is forwarded to the appropriate team - I am sure they will be pleased to receive it.

Best wishes

Megan
