Over the years I've had four operations all with excellent success then with miss fortune of been referred to James Paget hospital for my hernia operation on the day of my operation arrived in good time I was been asked questions about my morning I've had anything to drink or eat constantly I said no all the time about an hour before my operation they gave me a glass of water as heavy smoker I decided
to have nicotine chewing gums it was actually my mouth for less than a minute a nurse notice me I told me I'm not allowed to chew anything at all I explained I just for a few seconds and place it between my gum and cheek to absorb the nicotine she said I rather you didn't chew at all I apologise removes the gum and apologiseI thought that was the end of the matter till the theatre nurse appeared to take me for my operation that's all the normal questions about have anything to eat or drink I said just a glass of water what they gave me about hour ago she spotted the nicotine gum I just explained that in my mouth for less than a minute she went ballistic I'll have to contact the doctors see if can do the operation she telephone the doctor he won't make a commitment she said stuff to phone a senior doctor I think she was referring to the surgeon she said will leave you to the last I said would you be doing the operation she said I very much doubt it. She wasn't interested in anything I said it was a total waste of time trying to talk to her so I decided what's the point of stopping here for 2-hours be told no operation so I got dress to leave the hospital there was about half a dozen nurses all sat down talking I asked him which was the way out they just pointed yes they do work very hard I thought what did I leave the hospital simple reason my brother who is 74 was going to pick me up night driving is not his best so I thought if I leave now in daylight he can come and pick me up yes I was very disappointed yes I broke a petty rule I've been trying to contact the surgeon I've left messages but no reply with his secretary there is just no communications from the theatre nurse to the surgeon. I suppose if I explain I'll go private will they be all talking to me then as they say money talks louder. My feeling is that just didn't want to do the work always looking for an excuse to refuse you I would have been quite happy to return back to this hospital but after the experience I don't think so the national health service seems to look after itself and not its patients which I would thought I would never say
"Disappointed patience"
