"Care in dr grays"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Emergency Medicine Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I was admitted to a&e @ dr grays hospital with a suspected stroke. The service and care I received by the paramedics and the staff in the ward we’re first class. From the speed of their diagnoses, calming words, tests carried out it was all excellent. Everything was explained on a step by step basis which made a very scary experience a lot less of an ordeal. The care from the doctors and nurses was first class and for this I would be always grateful.

I was then transferred to the stroke ward at the same hospital. Firstly I was put onto a small ward which was unsuitable for my symptoms so I was quickly moved to a side room.

I absolutely cannot in words say how fabulous the care and support I received on this ward was. From being in a very very scary position of not being able to speak or walk properly, I was cared for by all staff as if I was one of their own. The staff are all completely dedicated to their positions and are an absolute credit to not only the NHS but to themselves. Gentle, caring and very reassuring in all aspects of my distress. I get very emotional just penning this email as if it hadn’t been for ALL the staff, Domestic through to Consultants this distressing life event would have been very hard to process, not only for myself but for my family also.

I hope this email gets relayed to the staff as I can imagine staff moral in the NHS is low at present but the staff on this ward really do go well above and beyond and should be treasured.

Thank you for your time

Dear Pheonixxk94

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read that you had need to use our Services and that of the wider NHS. I cannot begin to imagine how scary this event must have been for you and I hope that you are feeling better now and if not already, able to get home soon.

The words that you use to describe the words of all the staff that attended you and cared for you are beautiful and I thank you in particular for the kind words you have said about our crew. If you would like, I can arrange for these words to be passed to the crew that attended you. If you would like for this to happen we would need some more details, if you could email sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, the date and time the ambulance attended and the address. This will allow us to locate the vehicle and the crew. I would also be very grateful if you would make reference to your CareOpinion username in the email if you choose to get in contact so that if another member of the team picks it up they can easily link it all.

Thanks again and I wish you all the very best!

Alan

Dear phoenixxk94,

I’m so sorry to read about your Stroke and can understand why you felt emotional writing this lovely thank you. It is so nice to read your feedback and to hear that your care was good throughout your stay in hospital. There is no doubt this will have been a very scary and distressing time for you and your family, and it’s comforting to hear the staff cared for you as if you were one of their own.

I wish you all the very best with your rehabilitation and can assure you this story has been shared with the teams at Dr Gray's who have been involved in your journey so far.

Take care,

Louise
