"From mediocre to shocking!"

About: Churchtown Medical Centre

Phoned at 8am for an appointment for my son. For the first 7 minutes of calling (48) times I was told by voice message the practice was closed today for staff training. On the 49th attempt as I was suspicious that this wasn’t the case, I eventually got through. I was told he would need a telephone consult first. At 2.30 he received a call from someone in London who asked his symptoms. It was decided he needed a face to face appointment and was told he would phone him straight back. After over a hour no one called back so I phoned the practice again. After being on hold for 30 minutes was offered an appointment 4 days later!!!! I explained that he needed to be seen today as stated by the person who triaged him over the phone and what had happened to all the appointments. The practice advertises as open 8am to 6.30 pm was repeatedly told no appointments available with no explanation as to why. I actually don’t think that they have more than one doctor there, as the receptionist said she would ask the doctor. Eventually was offered an appointment the next morning. Still not good enough. I had heard that all the regular doctors had left and I’m not surprised. Absolutely disgusting service. No wonder the other practice near me has had to close their books due to an increase of people wanting to join them.

Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that we were not able to provide you with an appointment at the surgery and that your experience with us has not met the high standard of service we always aim to provide.

Over the last year general practices have worked closely with other services to make sure patients can be signposted when unable to be seen in the surgery due to capacity.

At present we are able to signpost patients to multiple other services which have been put in place to simply support all the GP practices in the area with the ever-increasing demand. Some of these services include but are not limited to , Pharmacy consultation, our extended 7Day GP service who provide multiple face to face and telephone DR/ANP/PN/HCA appointments and can be booked in advance , same day Winter Hub GP response face to face based at the hospital etc.

We would love to make sure all our patients are seen within a timely manner so please do not hesitate to ask if we can signpost you to one of the above services in the future.

If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the surgery on 01704 224411
