"He has no stimulation in the hospital"

About: Broomfield Hospital / Older people's healthcare East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a service user),

He had a fall last week at home.  I was with him all the time the ambulance took him to Broomfield as he was on the floor for 6hours.  I expected him back the next day at the latest.

He is still in hospital at present, he is not hurt he is taking up a bed which he does not need.   They will not let him home as he needs a care package.  I can do with some help at home as he has dementia.   He is in a medical ward.  He seems to be turning into a vegetable He needs to be home as he can't stand anymore. I bought a zimmer frame at home to help with walking, we have a stair lift and grab rails to help him  They have found that on standing he gets low blood sugar that is why he fell.

I know they want to make sure he has proper equipment.  to come home too  He has no stimulation he wont take his meds and he wont let them change him.  He is in the wrong environment..and we are not allowed to see him covid seems to be the reason.  I'm sure his mind is worse.  He left happy and joking now he wont talk on the phone to me and he wont do what they want.    they are short of staff beds etc.  Every day I wait to see if he can come home.  It must be better than being alone with not much hearing or his glasses,  I  hope there is improvement soon.
