"CT scan today"

About: Community Services / Bladder & Bowel Care North Devon District Hospital / Cancer Services North Devon District Hospital / Radiology (X-ray)

(as a service user),

Today I had my regular CT Scan to see if my Colon cancer was stable or growing, at Barnstaple Hospital.

I arrived as requested, not more than 5 minutes before my appointment.

After checking in, I was seen by Connie, who put a canular in - PAINLESS.

Then when it was available I was taken by Simon to the scanner, he advised on getting onto the scanner table etc.

After the initial scan he returned to ensure the injection fluid was passing into my system.

After the second scan, he returned to allow me to get off the table.

When I had finished/waited the correct time span, Connie then removed the canular.

My comments about the whole experience were that both Connie, Simon and the other staff, were, caring, re-assuring and very, VERY professional.

Many thanks.

I am a Diagnostic Radiographer with many years experience of working, and imaging patients, in all areas of the Radiology department. I am also responsible for the governance in Radiology and so make sure that we are compliant with the many ionising radiation regulations that dictate what we can and can't do in radiology, keep the patients and staff safe and ensure we are practicing safely. I also deal with our policies and procedures and oversee compliments, complaints and quality.

Dear MikeO,

Thank you for taking the time to leave positive feedback of your experience following your CT scan; I'm glad that the examination you had was both painless and a positive experience. The CT team work hard to ensure that the whole process is as easy and as pleasant as it can be for patients and so its good to know that their hard work is appreciated. I will pass on your feedback and thanks to the CT team who will be very pleased to receive it.

Kind regards

Gill
