"Care for my father in law"

About: St Lukes Hospice / Patient and Family support services

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

My experience of the hospice has been outstanding.  My father in law came in four weeks ago as he could not cope at home with his terminal lymphoma, DVT and heart failure.  From the time he came in he has been treated with compassion, kindness and medical expertise.  From the consultant to the cleaners, everyone has been extremely professional and have been there for my father in law, keeping him clean, giving medication and encouraging him to eat.  They have also supported us as a family through this traumatic process.  My father in law's visitors have said 'This place is spotless'.

I cannot praise the hospice enough and my daughter has said she hopes it is still going when I might need it.

My father in law is in his final stage of life but the staff continue to care for him as if he were conscious.  I think all the staff deserve medals.

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experiences.

We take great pride at being able to support the whole family at this very difficult time.

We are glad that you thought the hospice was spotless- we work very hard to maintain standards for patients and have a very dedicated housekeeping team to support us in this.

I will ensure that the whole team is made aware of your feedback.
