"Awful experience "

About: Derriford Hospital

I went today to a and e,I felt pain in my right side, felt constipated, I was in terrible pain and asked them for help, they left me 1 h to sit in the waiting room, vomiting, screaming in pain, I went to the toilet 10 times, to vomit and felt constipated so much and in do much pain that I had to lie on the floor to catch my breath, no one cared, they just passed me, one nurse even said that she wants to call security to remove me if I don't stand , I begged them for pain killers, something to help take the pain away, they just brushed me off saying that they need tests so I need to wait, 3 hours I waited in pain on the floor, vomiting until they decided to get me a chair and morphine, though they talked before giving me morphine in front of me saying I might be a drug addict, at that point I just wanted to go home, first time in a hospital in 6 years in England, never on benefits, always paying tax and nino and I was treated like a junkie , I wonder why pay nhs here..they did some tests after 4 more hours ,waited 2 more hours for results and surprise..I am not a drug addict, I didn't came to get high, I actually had a bad bowel infection.I saw nurses and doctors talking about their lives, and patients left crying in pain.Nobody cared.I felt like a piece of meat, I rather die home then go back there ever. The level of indifference is amazing, I understand it's a busy day but leaving people screaming in pain on the floor,vomiting..wow. So I finish saying this if I am ever sick or dying I will do it home, but I will leave a last message to derriford a and e , thanks for your indifference.

Thank you taking the time to give us this valuable feedback. We are very sorry that you had such a poor experience in our Emergency Department. Please can I ask that you contact our PALS team and register your concerns with them, which enables us to investigate. Your experience made upsetting reading and falls way below the standard of care that we aim to deliver. We are sorry to hear that you required our services and hope that you are making a good recovery.

PALS can be contacted on 01752 439884 or by email at plh-tr.pals@nhs.net

Many thanks
