I attended the GP with my child in early 2020 due to a history of worsening tics that had been displayed for approximately 2-3 years. The GP referred us to a neurologist and they had an MRI at the Royal Hospital Children July 2020. The results were normal and they were then referred to CAHMS for tics.
After a long wait I phoned Renfrewshire CAHMS November 2021 to query if they were was waiting this length of time due to the pandemic, and to check whether they still on the waiting list? I made this call as the tics were worsening, they were reporting painful eyes and had increasing anxiety. I was told by CAHMS that we had been sent an appointment for November 2020 which we did not attend. I assured CAHMS that although we had moved home in February 2020 I had immediately changed our address with the GP. I did not even receive a text or phone call in relation to the appointment.
I was told my only option was to be re-referred by my GP and go back on the waiting list.
As an NHS employee I understand the challenges we have all faced during covid 19 but this is not acceptable. They are now on the waiting list again for a condition reported almost 2 years ago. If anything I hope this admin error will be looked at so that other families do not end up in a similar situation.
