"The staff went above and beyond"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Minor Injuries Unit Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / 23 Hour Unit ( Ward 1A)

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter caught her finger in a wooden fire door hinge at school, we attended Stobhill minor injuries and were told that she would have to attend the ward 1A at the RHC.

We attended at 7am the following day. We were checked into a small room within the ward as my daughter covid results weren't back yet. The nurse we met was absolutely amazing and she kept my daughter very calm. I met with the surgeon who told me that they would be removing her nail and cleaning it out and if she needed any stitches then this would be done while she was under general anesthetic. We were moved into a ward after her results came back. All staff were very kind to both me and my daughter. The anesthetist came round and recommended that my daughter has a pre med as she has adhd this worked very well and when we went down to the theatre she was very relaxed which helped me to be okay with her going under. After the surgery she was brought back and was in great spirits. All the staff went above and beyond and I am very grateful to each and every 1 of them who helped my daughter when she was in the ward.

Dear Rfchottie87

Your poor daughter, that must have hurt like crazy!!

It was so very kind of you to take the time to let us know about the care she received when she arrived here at RHC, from being kept safe until COVID results were known, to the explanations and the personal centred care that saw her offered a pre-med.

It can be really daunting for a child to come into hospital and I'm so glad our team was able to support her both during her wait and then during recovery.

Our Senior Management Team will ensure our colleagues that helped you that day see a copy of your post and will also pass on their personal thanks.

I really hope your daughter is recovering well at home

Take care

Coral
