I was a planned section with date given but went into labour naturally a week before section date.
I phoned the maternity triage and the midwife on the phone was helpful and reassuring giving me a plan of what to do until contractions became more frequent. However things happened very quickly I was back on the phone and was advised to make way over to the maternity ward. I was quickly taken to a room and examined and then before I knew it, I had doctors and midwives getting me ready for theatre.
I did not have much time to think of what was happening but myself and my husband were looked after very well. The midwife on duty (Taylor I’m sure) was amazing. She explained everything to me and made me focus on her as the theatre was busy with nurses and doctors.
I arrived at Wishaw at 9am and my baby girl was born at 10.05am. The care we received was incredible.
Also once I was back in the ward, during the night one of the maternity care assistants (Ann) took my baby to give me a chance to close my eyes. That was a short time I could recharge and feed my baby again.
I cannot thank the midwives, doctors and maternity care assistants enough for the care and support I received.
