"Good care for broken ankle"

About: Tameside General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I was on the field with a dog and slipped on wet grass. Took my wellie off and ankle was facing south. Put wellie back on. Trip to Tameside hospital.

Oh my god, they are amazing. 10 mins wait in waiting room... boom, getting ankle put in place. Drugs were good for pain. Wellie cut off and jeans.

Another top doc comes to see me and told me I need it to be done again as it wasn't in the right place. More drugs and reset... boom its over.

Next day operation took 3 hours and I'm starting to walk with crutches. I'm so happy 'cos I was told it was a bad break and life changing and I'm on the mend 12 weeks with no weight bearing. It was hard and housebound. Glad that's over.

Dear Tracy

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience about the care you received at Tameside Hospital. Whilst I was saddened to read about your accident and the treatment you required, I was very pleased to read that you had such a positive experience and that you are recovering well. Your feedback has been shared with the Department and they would also like to thank you for posting your comment and kind words.

Best Wishes
