"WORST GP SURGERY EVER! "

About: The Upstairs Surgery

I was in hospital due to a difficult pregnancy and during this visit I was told to immediately contact my GP and tell them about my health issues as well as my poor mental health at the time. I called the surgery and was told that I needed to come in a talk to someone which I did. When I arrived at the surgery I spoke to 5 different people and then was told that I needed to call at 8am if I was having suicidal thoughts. I was not given any support at all and felt humiliated by the ladies at reception who kept telling me to speak up as they couldn’t hear me. I booked an appointment and spoke to Dr …(not allowed to mention names) who just kept saying that she can’t help me and that I needed to do what needs to be done as I’ll have a baby soon- I am extremely disappointed and sad as to how I was treated by the surgery. I sent several but was simply ignored. I also put in for repeat prescriptions twice but still had not had them

2 weeks later, so I sent my husband to ask for it and he was sent home as they could not help him because it was not his prescription. I tried to ring the surgery many times without success. I’ve now changed to Chadwellheath Surgery and am happy there.

We are very sorry that you felt this way. Receptionists will always risk assess patients, and if no appointments are available we ensure that anything urgent will be dealt with by the GP/ Nurse or local service. Our reception team and GP’s will always provide patients who require further mental health support, with contact numbers for the mental health teams and crisis teams to self-refer to the local services for ongoing support with specialists, when needed.

As this is an anonymous comment, we would need more information to look into the matter for you to be able to give you an explanation. Please contact the surgery either via telephone asking for the Practice Manager, or alternatively email theupstairssurgery@nhs.net FAO: Practice Manager
